Okay, folks, gather ’round! I wanna share my latest project with y’all: building a brick outdoor grill. Yeah, you heard that right, a good ol’ fashioned brick grill, perfect for those summer barbecues and cookouts.
First things first, I had to figure out my budget. I ain’t made of money, so I was lookin’ for somethin’ reasonable. After doin’ some research, I figured I could build a decent one for around $500, give or take. I decided that was a price I could live with, so I started planning.
Gathering the Supplies
Next up was gatherin’ all the supplies. I needed bricks, and lots of ’em. I figured about 100-150 bricks should do the trick, dependin’ on how big I wanted to make it. I also needed a grill set, with a tray for the coals and at least one grill grate, maybe two if I wanted a warming rack. And of course, mortar to hold the whole thing together.
I hit up my local hardware store and loaded up my truck. It was a bit of a workout, I ain’t gonna lie, but I got everything I needed in one trip.
Building the Base
With all my supplies ready to go, it was time to start buildin’. I started by laying out the bricks in the shape I wanted the grill to be. Once I was happy with the layout, I started mixin’ up the mortar and carefully put the bricks together row after row.
I made sure each brick was level and plumb, and that there were no gaps in the mortar. It was slow goin’, but I wanted to make sure it was done right. After a few hours of work, I had a solid base for my grill.
Adding the Grill Grates
Once the base was built, it was time to add the grill grates. I placed the coal tray on the bottom, and then carefully positioned the grill grates on top. I made sure they were secure and wouldn’t move around when I was cookin’.
Finishing Touches
With the grill grates in place, my brick outdoor grill was basically done! I let the mortar dry completely for a couple of days, just to be safe. Then, I fired it up and cooked my first meal on it – some juicy burgers and hot dogs. Let me tell you, they tasted amazing!
Building this grill was a fun and rewarding project. It wasn’t too difficult, and it didn’t break the bank. Plus, now I have a awesome outdoor grill that I can use for years to come. If you’re thinkin’ about buildin’ your own grill, I say go for it! It’s somethin’ anyone can do with a little time and effort.
