Alright, so the other day I got this craving for pizza, but not just any pizza – I wanted that good, wood-fired stuff. So I started looking around and stumbled upon this place called “Sticks and Bricks Wood Fired Pizza” here in Erie, PA. Sounded promising, right?
First thing I did was check out their address – 1301 E Grandview Blvd. Not too far from me. Then I looked into how I could get my hands on their pizza. Good news: they do outdoor seating, curbside pickup, delivery, and takeout. Options are always good.
Next up, the menu. I’m a simple guy, I like to start with the appetizers. They had these fried green tomatoes with marinara and Sriracha ranch for $8.50. Sounded interesting, so I made a mental note of that.
I also noticed they had some pretty standard stuff like crisp lettuce, tomato, onion, and Cheddar Jack. All good things to have on a pizza, or maybe a salad if I was feeling healthy.
Now, about that wood-fired part. I did a bit of reading and it turns out that while a brick oven pizza doesn’t quite have that smoky flavor like you’d get from a real wood fire, it still does a bang-up job. The heat is more consistent, so the bake is more uniform. Plus, the crust is a bit softer and chewier. Could be a good thing, could be a bad thing. Depends on what you’re into.
Oh, and I found out that Domino’s is like the king of pizza in the U.S. They made $8.6 billion in 2022. That’s a whole lotta dough! They’re in 90 other countries too. Wild, right?
My Order
- Appetizer: Fried Green Tomatoes with Marinara and Sriracha Ranch
- Pizza: I ended up going for a classic Pepperoni with extra cheese.
So, I placed my order online for curbside pickup. When I got there, the place looked pretty decent. The staff were friendly, got my order right, and the pizza? Man, it was good. The crust was just how I like it, a little crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The cheese was gooey, the pepperoni had that nice little kick to it. All in all, a solid pizza experience.
Would I go back? Yeah, probably. It’s not the best pizza I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely up there. Plus, they’ve got a bunch of other stuff on the menu I wouldn’t mind trying. Maybe next time I’ll dine in, enjoy the outdoor seating. We’ll see.
Anyway, that’s my little pizza adventure for you. If you’re ever in Erie, PA, and you’re in the mood for some decent wood-fired pizza, give Sticks and Bricks a try. You might just like it.
