Alright, so I wanted to share how I made my own brick fire pit. It wasn’t too hard, and it turned out pretty good!
First, I picked a spot in my backyard where I wanted the fire pit to be. Made sure it was away from anything that could catch fire, like trees or the house. Safety first, you know?
Then, I grabbed a shovel and started digging. Nothing too crazy, just a shallow pit, maybe about 6 to 12 inches deep. It was a bit of a workout, but hey, who needs the gym when you’ve got a backyard project, right?
After that, I filled the bottom of the pit with some gravel. Apparently, this helps with drainage, so the fire pit doesn’t turn into a mini swimming pool when it rains. Then, I added a layer of sand on top of the gravel to make the surface level. I just eyeballed it until it looked flat enough.
Building the Walls
- I arranged the bricks in a circle to make the walls. I got some basic bricks, just wanted to make sure to get 80 to 100 pieces for each layer.
- Stacked them up, making sure they were nice and secure. I didn’t use any mortar or anything, just stacked them tightly. I ended up making it a couple of layers high. Felt like playing with giant LEGOs!
Once the walls were up, I stepped back and admired my work. It actually looked like a proper fire pit! I filled the inside with some more gravel, just to make it look nicer, I guess.
And that’s pretty much it! I lit a fire in it that evening, and it worked perfectly. Now I have a cool spot to hang out with friends and roast some marshmallows. If I can do it, you definitely can too!
