Well, let me tell you, ain’t nothin’ like sittin’ ’round a fire on a cool evenin’. You wanna make one of them fire pits yourself? Good for you! It ain’t as hard as it looks, even an old woman like me can do it. Here is how you diy fire pit with bricks.
First thing you gotta do is find yourself a good spot. Don’t go puttin’ it too close to your house, you hear? Keep it a good ways away from anythin’ that can catch fire. Ten feet is good. Better safe than sorry, I always say.
Now, you gotta decide, you want it in the ground or above the ground? Either one is fine, just depends on what you like. In ground ones you can use more easily, above ground ones you may need to climb up to use.
If you’re goin’ in the ground, you gotta dig a hole. Not too deep, mind you. Maybe about 6 to 12 inches or so. Just enough to make a little dip in the ground. Then you gonna need some gravel. You know, them little rocks. Pour some of that in the bottom of your hole. That’s gonna help with the water, you see? Keeps it from gettin’ all soggy under your fire.
After the gravel, you want some sand. Pour that right on top. Makes it nice and level. You don’t want your fire pit all tilted, do you? That just ain’t right. Sand is cheap too. So just use it.
Okay, now comes the fun part – the bricks! This is for the DIY fire pit with bricks. You can use them regular ol’ red bricks, or you can get fancy with them stones. Whatever you like. Just start layin’ them around the edge of your hole, makin’ a circle or a square. Whatever shape you want your fire pit to be.
Stack them bricks up, one on top of the other. Make sure they’re good and tight. You don’t want them fallin’ over when you get a fire goin’. And remember, we are making a DIY fire pit with bricks, not with other materials.
Another cheap way is to get a big metal tub, like the ones we use for washing. You can get one pretty cheap. And get a few bricks, they are very cheap too. Put those bricks in the tub, spread them out on the bottom. That’s your fire pit, right there! Easy peasy, ain’t it?
And if you don’t want a tub and want above ground, well, you just skip the hole diggin’ part. Just start stackin’ your bricks on the ground, makin’ your circle or square. Build it up a little higher, maybe a couple feet or so.
Here is what you need, I will write them down for you.
- Bricks, lots of them.
- Gravel, for the bottom.
- Sand, to make it level.
- A shovel, if you are digging a hole.
- A big wash tub, if you don’t want to use too many bricks.
Some folks like to put some of them fire pit rocks in the bottom. Them colorful ones. That’s fine, I reckon. Makes it look pretty. But plain ol’ dirt works just fine too. Don’t go spendin’ money on somethin’ you don’t need. We need to save money to buy those bricks! Remember, we are making a DIY fire pit with bricks, so bricks are what we need most!
And there you have it! Your very own fire pit. Now you can sit out there on them cool nights and enjoy a fire with your family. Just be careful, you hear? Fire is dangerous. Don’t let the little ones get too close. And always keep some water handy, just in case.
And make sure you use sand or dirt inside. They are safe. And they are cheap too! You don’t want no accident, do you? Also you can make a circle brick fire pit, just arrange the bricks into a big circle. It is that easy!
Oh, and don’t go burnin’ no trash in your fire pit. That ain’t good for the air. Just burn good, dry wood. Makes for a nice, clean fire. And when the fire is done, do not forget to put it out with water. It may cost a little water, but it will keep everyone safe. And that’s what we want.
