Okay, so I’ve been wanting a fire pit in my backyard for ages. I finally decided to just go for it and build one myself. I’m calling it my “brick bomb” fire pit because, well, it’s made of bricks, and it’s going to be the bomb!
Choosing the Spot
First things first, I picked out a good spot in my yard. I made sure it was far enough away from the house, trees, and anything else that could catch fire. Safety first, you know?
Gathering Supplies
Next, I rounded up all the stuff I needed. I hit up the local home improvement store and grabbed a bunch of bricks. I went with regular clay bricks. Someone told me that they might crack over time due to heat, but I just thought they look nicer. I think I got like 60 or 70 bricks, but I wasn’t really counting. I also got some sand and gravel, but I honestly don’t know what they’re for. A guy on the internet said it was necessary so I just followed.
Digging and Marking
Then came the fun part – digging! I dug a shallow hole where the fire pit was going to be. I didn’t go too deep, just enough to make a base. Then, I used some string and stakes to mark out the circle for the fire pit. I tried to make it as round as possible, but it ended up a little wonky. Oh well, it adds character!
Laying the Bricks
This was the trickiest part. I started laying the bricks around the circle, one by one. I tried to get them nice and snug, but there were some gaps. I just filled those in with smaller pieces of brick. It wasn’t perfect, but it started to look like a fire pit! I kept adding layers of bricks, going higher and higher. I didn’t use any mortar or anything, just stacked them on top of each other.
The Final Touches
After I was happy with the height, I added a layer of sand and gravel to the bottom of the pit. I’m not sure what that does, but it seemed like the right thing to do. I also added a metal ring around the top, just to make it look a little fancier. I’m not sure how necessary it is, but it does look cool.
And that’s it! My brick bomb fire pit is complete! I can’t wait to have my first fire in it. It might not be the most professional-looking fire pit, but I built it myself, and that’s what matters. It’s got that rustic, homemade charm, you know? Now, who’s up for some s’mores?
- It was hard, but it was worth it.
- I can enjoy it with my family.
- It’s so cool, and I’m really proud of myself!
So, yeah, that’s how I built my brick bomb fire pit. It was a fun little project, and I’m really happy with how it turned out. Maybe I’ll add some more decorations later, but for now, it’s perfect just the way it is.
