Well, let me tell ya, I seen a thing or two in my time, and one thing I always wanted was a nice little spot to sit around a fire on those cool evenings. So, I got to thinkin’, why not make one of them fire pits myself? And you know what? I did it! Just with some old bricks I found, it ain’t nothin’ fancy, but it does the trick. This article is about fire pit made out of bricks.
Gather Your Bricks and Stuff
First thing you gotta do is get yourself some bricks. I used old ones from the pile in the back, but you can get ’em new too, I reckon. Them fire pit made out of bricks, they ain’t hard to find. Maybe 50 or 100, depending on how big you want your fire pit. And if you use rectangle bricks, your fire pit would be a square. You want a round one, well, you know. And you’ll need some of that gravel stuff too, the kind you put under pathways. Oh, and that black paper, landscapin’ paper, they call it. Keeps the weeds from growin’ up through your fire pit.
Here is what you need:
- A bunch of bricks, could be 50 or 100, your choice.
- Some of that gravel, you know, the small rocks.
- Landscapin’ paper, the black kind.
- A shovel, for diggin’ and movin’ stuff.
- Maybe a rake, to smooth things out.
Lettin’ Her Rip
Now, you gotta find a spot for your fire pit made out of bricks. Somewhere flat, not too close to the house or anythin’ that might catch fire. I cleared out a little circle in my yard, pulled up all the grass and weeds. Then I put down that landscapin’ paper, made sure it covered the whole area. Some folks say to dig down a bit, but I just put the paper right on the ground. If you have filter fabric, also put it down.
Next, you start layin’ your bricks. I made a circle, but you can make a square if you want, just depends on what you like. Lay them bricks all the way around, makin’ sure they’re nice and snug against each other. You want ’em level, too. If you ain’t got one of them levelin’ tools, just eyeball it. Mine ain’t perfect, but it’s close enough. Make it several layers high, three is a good start.
Fillin’ Her Up
Once you got your bricks all laid, you gotta fill in the middle. That’s where the gravel comes in. Dump a bunch of it inside your fire pit made out of bricks, right on top of that paper. Spread it around with your shovel, make it nice and even. You want a good layer of gravel in there, maybe a few inches thick.
Some people put sand on top of the gravel, but I didn’t bother. I just put some of them lava rocks in there. You know, the kind they sell for grills and such. They look kinda pretty, and they hold the heat real good. And some wood frame could be used if you like, but not necessary.
Light Her Up!
Now comes the fun part! Get yourself some firewood, stack it up inside your fire pit made out of bricks. I like to use them little fire starter things, makes it easier to get the fire goin’. Once you got a good blaze, just sit back and enjoy! And remember to get some chairs to sit around the fire pit.
I like to sit out there on cool evenings, watch the flames dance around. It’s real peaceful, you know? And it’s nice to have a place to roast marshmallows with the grandkids. They love it!
It Ain’t Rocket Science
Now, I ain’t no expert, but I managed to build myself a fire pit made out of bricks, and it works just fine. Didn’t cost me much, either. Just a little bit of time and effort. If I can do it, anyone can! It is so easy, and cheap, maybe only $50!
So, if you’re lookin’ for a way to add a little somethin’ special to your backyard, why not try buildin’ a fire pit? It’s a fun project, and you’ll get a lot of enjoyment out of it. Trust me, there ain’t nothin’ like sittin’ around a fire on a cool night, watchin’ the stars and tellin’ stories. You will have a perfect evening! And don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty. It’s all part of the fun!
You see, this whole fire pit made out of bricks thing, it ain’t as hard as it looks. Just gotta put your mind to it. And a little elbow grease never hurt nobody! And you will get a cozy fire pit.
