Well, let me tell ya, I seen a thing or two in my day. And I seen some right fancy backyards. But you know what? A good ol’ fire pit, that’s what makes a place feel like home. And I’m gonna tell you how to make one, easy peasy, with them red bricks.
Red Bricks Fire Pit, Easy Peasy
Them fancy folks, they got all sorts of contraptions. But for a good fire, all you need is some red bricks, the kind you see everywhere. Them red bricks, they can take the heat, no problem. Don’t need nothing special, just regular old bricks. You can find them anywhere, even on the side of the road maybe if you are lucky. Just make sure they are good and strong, not those crumbly ones.
First, you gotta find a spot. Not too close to the house, mind you. Fire’s a wild thing, gotta give it space. And not under no trees, neither. Don’t want no branches catching fire. A nice flat spot, that’s what you want. And clear out all the dry stuff. I seen more than one fire get out of hand cause of some dry leaves.
- Find a flat spot, away from the house and trees.
- Clear out all the dry stuff, like leaves and grass.
- Get yourself a bunch of them red bricks.
- Maybe some of them paver stones, too, if you’re feeling fancy.
Stackin’ Them Bricks
Now, you start stackin’ them bricks. Just make a circle, you know? Don’t need no fancy tools. Just your hands. Stack ’em up, one on top of the other. Make it about as tall as your knee, maybe a little higher. But you need to make it strong, you know, you don’t want it fallin’ over, especially when you put a lot of wood inside. If you have some of those paver stones, use them for the bottom. This will make it even stronger.
Make sure you leave a little space between some of them bricks. That’s for the air, you see. Fire needs air to breathe, just like us. If you don’t give it air, it’ll just go out. And if you want to make it look real nice, you can put some gravel or sand in the bottom. But that’s just for looks, you know? Don’t really need it.
You can make it as big or as small as you like. Just remember, the bigger it is, the more wood you’ll need. And you gotta keep an eye on it, too. Don’t want no sparks flyin’ out and starting a fire somewhere else. Just need to use your common sense.
Keep an eye on it
Now, some folks, they like to get fancy. They put a little metal ring inside, to hold the wood. But you don’t need that. Just pile the wood in the middle, and you’re good to go. And some folks, they put a grate on top, for cookin’. Now that’s a good idea. Nothing like a hot dog cooked over a fire. Or some marshmallows, all gooey and brown. Oh, that’s the best.
Now once you got your red bricks all stacked up nice and pretty, you are gonna need some wood. I remember when I was young, we always collect the wood from the forest near our house. But you can buy them too, if you don’t live near a forest or don’t have time to collect them.
And let me tell you, that fire pit will make all the difference in your backyard. That’s where everybody will want to be, on a cool evening. Sittin’ around the fire, tellin’ stories, singin’ songs. That’s what it’s all about, you know? Good times, good company. And a good ol’ fire pit, made with your own two hands.
Fire Safety, Don’t Be a Fool
Now, I ain’t gonna lie. Fire can be dangerous. So you gotta be careful. Don’t let no little kids play around it. And always have a bucket of water nearby, just in case. And don’t never leave it unattended. Fire’s a good friend, but it can turn on you in a second. You gotta respect it, you know? You need to be responsible for it.
If you want a fire pit, them red bricks are the way to go. They’re cheap, they’re easy to find, and they’ll last you a long time. And they look nice, too. Just a good, honest fire pit. That’s all you need. You can even use those blue bricks if you want to make it water-proof, but that’s another story for another time. Don’t need no fancy stuff. Just some good ol’ red bricks and a little bit of elbow grease. And you’ll have a fire pit that’ll make your backyard the envy of the whole neighborhood.
So there you have it. A fire pit made with red bricks. Easy as pie. Now go on, get to it. And don’t forget to invite me over for the first marshmallow roast. I’ll bring the stories. Just make sure you have enough wood, cause when I start tellin’ my stories, we might be there all night.
