Don’t let it all escape out the sides or the back. That way, you ain’t gotta keep feedin’ the fire all the time. Saves ya money on wood, or whatever you’re burnin’. I reckon that’s a good thing, ain’t it?

Like, melt-your-face-off high. Okay, maybe not that high, but you get the idea. They made for fire, pure and simple.
I heard some folks call ‘em fire pit bricks too. Makes sense, I guess. If you buildin’ yourself a fire pit, you don’t want it fallin’ apart after a few fires, do ya? These bricks will keep that fire pit goin’ strong for years to come. And you can get ‘em in different colors too, so it looks nice. That’s important, you know? Gotta make things look nice.
Some of these bricks are made with stuff like silicon carbide, alumina, zirconia, sounds fancy, don’t it? All I know is that they’re made to handle the heat. They’re different than them regular bricks, the ones you use for a patio or a wall. Them regular bricks, they’d crack and crumble under the heat. These refractory bricks, they just keep on keepin’ on.
I saw somethin’ ‘bout them bein’ used in furnaces too. Big ol’ furnaces, where they melt metal and stuff. That tells ya somethin’ right there, don’t it? If they can handle that kind of heat, they can handle anything your little fireplace or wood stove can throw at ‘em. They even use different types of these bricks, like carborundum, forsterite, chromite, and spinal bricks, all sounds like gibberish to me, but the important thing is, they are tough.
So, if you’re lookin’ for bricks that can stand the heat, head on down to Lowe’s and ask for the refractory bricks, or the fire bricks, whatever you wanna call ‘em. They might cost a little more than them regular bricks, but they’re worth it. Trust me on that. You don’t want to be rebuildin’ your fireplace or fire pit every year, do ya? Didn’t think so. Get the good stuff, the stuff that lasts. That’s what I always say, buy once, cry once, that’s the way to go.
And let me tell ya another thing, quantity matters. When you are buying these bricks, remember they often come in big batches, like, 500 bricks on a pallet. Now, I don’t know about you, but that’s a whole lotta bricks. You probably ain’t gonna need that many for your little fire pit, but it’s good to know, you know? And another thing, the size and thickness of the bricks can change how many you need and how they fit together. Just something to keep in mind.
